Taking your kitten home

Until the kitten has had time to bond with you and learn its new home, it will feel scared or threatened, and is likely to want to hide or try to escape. When bringing your kitten home for the first time, resist the urge to open the carrier in the car, no matter how cute or sad or lonely the kitten looks…

Just like bringing home a newborn from hospital you need the right car seat to transport them in, it’s just the same for a kitten so have a proper carrier.  Ensure they have something soft and snuggly to sit or sleep on, or even curl up and hide in.  Kittens can quite easily lose body heat, so this will provide them with valuable insulation, as well as giving them a more familiar, secure environment.
